USS LYNX NCC-1608
Charity Service Page
The USS LYNX participates in many charitable service projects each year. Twice a year, Lynx members collect used clothing and donate them to area homeless shelters or battered women’s shelter. Once or twice a year, members collect canned food to donate to area food banks. Several times a year, used magazines are donated to area hospitals and nursing homes. For the past two years, Lynx members have participated in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica walk-a-thon.
Each year in December, along with a food and clothing collection, Lynx members adopt an angel from the Salvation Army angel tree, and fill a shoe box with small gifts for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is run by Samaritan’s Purse, and sends Christmas gifts to children all over the world who otherwise wouldn’t get one.
